According to a report in a leading tabloid, Kangana and Ketan developed differences over the language of production. And this led Kangana to opt for another talent in the director’s chair. The ‘Manjhi – The Mountain Man’ writer wanted to shoot the film in English, in order to amass the global audience. However, the ‘Rangoon’ star, who has also contributed to the script, holds a contradictory opinion. A source was quoted as telling the tabloid, “Ketan was insistent that his movie be made in English for an international audience, like Gurinder Chadha’s The Viceroy House, but those working on the film felt it won’t go with the ethos of the story. The actress and the filmmaker couldn’t find common ground on the language factor, leaving the project in a limbo.”
Come Thursday and Kangana is prepping up to shoot for the first poster of ‘Manikarnika’, which also happens to be her birthday. The actress is very much playing Rani Laxmibai, but not under Ketan Mehta’s direction. ‘Gabbar Is Back’ fame Krish has been roped in for the biopic. The story has been written by ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ writer, KV Vijayendra Prasad.
The source further reveals, “The new film will be helmed by a fresh team. A top studio, too, has agreed to back the venture, which is envisioned as an action-packed, feisty film. It is the biopic of an ordinary girl, who when faced with tough times, discovered the warrior in her. The film will go on floors in mid-May.”
